At Business Island we know that the thing that make companies sucessful is people. Every week we chat to someone about their daily life in work, who and what inspires them and get to know the person behind the job. This week we spoke with Nicole, Client Liaison at CHRC in Tralee about her exciting and relatively new role.
What is your current role like?
As Client Liaison here at CHRC, I am the first point of contact for our hair restoration patients and our skin/body clinic clients providing them with information regarding their skin/body and hair loss concerns and arranging consultations with our Aesthetic Practitioners and Doctors. I work closely with our Doctor during hair consultations when our patients attend for their 1 to 1 consultation and hair health analysis. Our doctor designs a tailored treatment plan for each patient with the support of the ARTAS® iX robotic hair transplant system. It involves ensuring our hair restoration patients are comfortable before and during their hair restoration procedure and checking in with the patient after their hair restoration procedure, supporting them with their aftercare plan and then liaising with our Doctor to answer any queries the individual may have throughout their hair restoration journey. I have a passion for building and growing relationships with our patients and clients and listening to their skin/body concerns or concerns relating to hair loss. I act as a seamless link between them and our clinical team. Acquiring a very high standard of knowledge around our procedures is really important for my role and maintaining an awareness of new products and technology is key to being able to communicate effectively with our patients and clients. A big part of my role is promoting and marketing our clinic, locally and nationally and I work closely with a great marketing team here at Bon Secours and love attending events with CHRC.
What about it makes you want to get up in the morning?
I love meeting our clients and patients each day and witnessing the confidence our aesthetic treatments and hair restoration procedures gives our clients and patients, to me this is amazing. It really is special to know that you are part of their journey from beginning to end. There is no better feeling than making someone smile and being even a small part in affecting their confidence in such a positive way.
What is the best career decision you ever made?
Taking up my current role here as Client Liaison at the CHRC. Every day is both rewarding and full.Happiness in the everyday is so important in your career. For me, this is the ultimate feel good role.
How has the industry changed since you started?
Opting for a hair restoration procedure is becoming more normalised and the old stigma around hair loss has definitely shifted in Ireland now. Our patients are delighted they can have the hair restoration procedure so locally now, right on their doorstep and they do not have to go abroad for it. As an industry there is constant evolution and the world of aesthetic medicine is always innovating. People are looking after themselves more; we have the most sophisticated technology right here in Tralee to support them. We definitely have a great cross section of ages and professions seeking our treatments. It helps that we are a relatively new clinic and we have the latest technology.
Do you feel like you’re making a difference in your job?
Yes, I definitely feel like I am helping our patients achieve their hair restoration goals which in turn make them feel happier and more confident in themselves and overall, they have a more positive outlook on their life. It is great to build relationships and trust with the patients. Walking into a room
to discuss something that you are maybe insecure about is a big step. It is my job to ensure that the patients feel fully comfortable and informed throughout their journey. The clinic itself is a calm space and we have lots of room for patients as privacy is key. Getting to know a patient’s likes and dislikes is really important in making that difference.
What is the best bit of advice you have for someone looking to move into this area?
If you feel passionate enough about it, don’t overthink it and just go for it! As long as you love helping people it really doesn’t even feel like a job. The world is evolving and roles like mine are suited to people that are empathetic and have a genuine interest in helping others. You need to beadaptive also to different personalities and people. As long as you love working with people, the role is so rewarding.
Is there a quote that motivates you?
“Just one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day”
Who inspires you?
My late Grandfather – always had a smile on his face, a positive outlook and saw the best in everybody!
