Ireland still has no formal honours system. While a number of schemes exist to recognise outstanding achievements in different walks of life, Ireland is one of the few countries without a formal State awards system. This has long been called for, but has not happened. Various communities and organisations recognise people for their achievements and contributions and this is so welcome.
At No.1 Media Group we have been recognising people from all walks of life for 35 years across our various media platforms that include civic, cultural, academia, business and so many other sectors. We have now decided to formally launch a new organisation that will recognise exceptional service, contribution and commitment from people in all sectors and areas of life that supports Ireland at home and globally. We are delighted to formally launch our new brand for National Hall of Fame Ireland as the new home of honours in Ireland that will recognise exceptional people and their achievements and honour Ireland’s finest people for all that they do for others.
Speaking on the announcement, Michael Mulcahy, Executive Chairman of No.1 Media Group said, “it is hugely important to recognise people for the exceptional contribution and commitment that people make in so many ways in all parts of Ireland and on behalf of Ireland. Our intention in creating National Hall of Fame of Ireland is about ensuring that we never forget to thank people for what they do for others and for brand Ireland. We have 35 years of experience in this area and we want to see it continue and expand so that anyone that does exceptional things in our country and for our country is recognised by our country.”
