A victim of its own success, Panorama Bistro & Terrace at The Montenotte Hotel has been unbelievably busy since opening 20 months ago. Things have really come together in this kitchen, led by chef Liam Kirwan, which has recently been awarded an AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence. The menu, which is sure to impress, is thoughtfully compiled with a new addition of daily specials with a seasonal focus.
General Manager, Brian Bowler, stated: “We are thrilled to receive such a prestigious accolade for Panorama Bistro here at the Montenotte Hotel. Liam and the kitchen team work hard to deliver inspired daily menus with due regard for provenance. Drawing inspiration and ingredients from the wealth of local producers on our doorstep.”
The restaurant, which is set in a bright and airy space. The décor of polished timber tables, upholstered and bentwood chairs and cosy booths is fitting to this relaxed style of dining.
One wall is made entirely of glass, and offers uninterrupted views over the River Lee and the maritime activity at Port of Cork. From dawn to nightfall, the stunning, ‘moving picture’ adds a warm ambiance to the Panorama Terrace.
In terms of food, the traditional Beef Wellington is a signature dish on the menu. A tender beef fillet wrapped in cured ham and topped with a well-seasoned duxelle enclosed in a crisp puff pastry served with a rich glossy jus, boasting great flavour.
For those with a sweeter tooth, a piece of the deliciously moist, yet light, Tunisian Almond & Orange Cake is a real treat.
Commenting on the award, AA Director of Consumer Affairs, Conor Faughnan, stated: “We are delighted to award a Rosette to Panorama Bistro & Terrace. Quality is evident in all elements of this menu; from the carefully chosen ingredients and use of artisan producers of the region, to the precision and finesse shown by the dedicated kitchen team”.
