Over 350 Voxpro – powered by TELUS International employees will donate their time at the first ever TELUS Days of Giving event in Cork.
On Saturday, May 18, 2019, Voxpro – powered by TELUS International will hold its first ever Irish TELUS Days of Giving, with more than 350 employees coming together to #GiveWhereWeLive. This volunteer event, in partnership with Down Syndrome Cork, will see dedicated employees volunteering their time to significantly expand Down Syndrome Cork’s Field of Dreams – a training space for adults with Down Syndrome. All in just one day.
Team members from both Cork and Dublin will work together to transform one unused acre of Field of Dreams’ site into a horticultural hub, by installing and fitting out a polytunnel unit, building new training rooms, and planting a commercial growing space.
“Currently, 95% of adults in Ireland with Down Syndrome are unemployed, as supports and services for the community tend to drop off at 21,” said Ray O’Callaghan, Chairperson, Down Syndrome Cork. He continued:
“The aim of Field of Dreams is to help members of the Down Syndrome community find a meaningful, rewarding role, which enables them to live with independence over the longer term. We are very excited about this project and grateful to the entire TELUS International team who are committed to helping our community in a truly meaningful way and building a brighter future for so many.”
Dan Kiely, CEO and Co-Founder, Voxpro – powered by TELUS International, added:
“We are so excited to embrace TELUS International’s legacy of a caring culture and add to it our heartfelt commitment to the local community here in Cork. Linda and I have long admired the fantastic work of Down Syndrome Cork and the incredible difference they make in the lives of so many people. It will truly be an honour to partner with Field of Dreams and to try to return some measure of the investment they have made in our community here in Cork.”
TELUS International President and CEO Jeffrey Puritt, said:
“I look forward to travelling to Cork to participate in our first local TELUS Days of Giving in Ireland. As TELUS International grows around the world, so too does our commitment to share our simple philosophy that is the cornerstone of our caring culture: ‘We Give Where We Live’.
“Our team members have embraced and enhanced this approach right here in Ireland, as demonstrated by their powerful commitment to drive social change and help every member of our community reach their full potential.”
Hosted at all their locations around the world, TELUS Days of Giving are company-organised opportunities for team members to volunteer at a high-impact, one-day event in their local community. From refurbishing schools to building houses and planting trees, TELUS International team members make a difference in their communities.
