Kilkenny Comes to Life with Live Traditional Music
If you are looking to embrace all the sounds and rhythms of the very best of traditional music, visitors can enjoy over ninety free Trad sessions on the festival’s Bulmers Music Trail. The medieval streets of Kilkenny will be brought to life as visitors pop in and out of Kilkenny’s finest pubs and bars to enjoy FREE live music sessions and sing-alongs in throughout the city.
Kilkenny has so many wonderful pubs and venues, too numerous to mention, so the best advice is to book a ticket for an evening gig as festival tickets are already selling fast and hit the Bulmers Trad Trail early in the day. If you get lost, just follow the sound of the Music!

Leading this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny parade as the 2024 Grand Marshal will be Kilkenny hurling legend Richie Power. A modern hurling icon with almost unparalleled success at both club and county level.
Mayor of Kilkenny Municipal District and Chairperson of Kilkenny’s St Patrick’s Festival Committee, Cllr. Joe Malone described Riche as “The perfect man to lead this year’s parade, not only as a fearless leader on the pitch, but off the pitch too. As someone who has spoken so honestly and publicly about his own personal demons, his confrontation of them and his victory over them, Richie Power is the kind of role model we all need today.”
