Waterford is celebrating Mother’s Day in abundance as details of a fabulous day out are unveiled by the majestic Mount Congreve Gardens and the wonderful Waterford Treasures Museum collection.
In the heart of Ireland’s oldest city at the Waterford Treasures collection of five museums Mums and families can enjoy the Freedom of Waterford and take in a guided walking tour experience with one of the expert guides at Waterford Treasures delving into the insights into the 1,000 years of history of Waterford all within 1,000 paces. The tour highlights include an opportunity to learn of the City’s Vikings foundations, be inspired by medieval wonders and experience elegant Georgian architecture.
Following the walking tour, the Freedom of Waterford Tour ticket enables each visitor to take a deep dive into their favourite era of Ireland’s heritage with complete access to the Medieval Museum adorned by Lady Waterford. This beautiful 18th-century Georgian grand residence is Bishop’s Palace, the award-winning Irish Museum of Time enjoy the exquisite collections at the Irish Silver Museum along with exploring the architecture of the stunning Christchurch Cathedral. Mrs Marjorie Congreve was a lady of great taste and an exceptional Mother’s Day Afternoon tea is set to be hosted in the ‘Chinese Room’ of Mount Congreve House with is adorned by a priceless wallpaper of such intricate detail that it is the only one of its kind in the world. The Chinese Room is a step into the timeless elegance and luxury of Mount Congreve House. Mr Congreve’s trips to Asia inspired it, and this elegant room offers guests a taste of history in a charming setting where tradition and charm surround you. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with natural light while Waterford Crystal chandeliers and lamps bestow a grand sense of occasion.

If you can’t make it to Mount Congreve Gardens for Mother’s Day you can spoil your mum by taking a little bit of the gardens to her with a Mother’s Day Mount Congreve Gardens Floral Bouquet.
This limited edition Mother’s Day bouquet is curated and designed by Waterford’s Master Dutch Florist, Lamber de Bie. This exclusive hand-tied bouquet includes five soft pink “Sweet Avalanche” large-headed roses, a selection of other garden-style pink flowers, and Irish-grown Eucalyptus foliage. Lamber is a Dutch Master Florist, born in Holland and trained there for nine years to achieve the highest recognition available in the world for a Florist “Dutch Master Florist”.” Mount Congreve Gardens also has very strong Dutch ties. Dutch-born Mr Herman Dool – a horticulturist and landscaper were employed by Mr Congreve in the early 1960s as Garden Director of Mount Congreve Gardens. Mr Dool developed the gardens over 40 years and received the Orange Order of Nassau from the Queen of Holland, the equivalent of a British Knighthood, for his achievements.
