A new yoga, meditation and healthy eating app, The Yoga Tree, launched by Cork yogi Hazel Buckley, a regular on RTE Today, offers personalised wellbeing plans for today’s busy world.
Everyone’s wellbeing goals are different, whether they are looking to improve mood, destress, enhance sleep, increase flexibility, or shed a few pounds.
According to well-known Cork yoga instructor Hazel Buckley, who is a regular on the RTE Today Show and many national podcasts and radio shows, everyBODY is also different. She has created an innovative new yoga, meditation and healthy eating app that is personalised to fitness levels, experience, goals and … time.
The app launched at a yoga festival event for over 100 people in St Peter’s Church Cork on Friday evening, where everyone enjoyed a yoga session with Hazel and Stevie G on decks, healthy food and raw treats, cocktails, before dancing the night away to Sonsolar Cork.
“We live in a hectic world and I know as a busy mum of 3 how difficult it is to find time for ourselves. I have friends who sit at a desk for 12 + hour days. We need to prioritise our wellbeing. Many people are afraid to start, as they feel they don’t have the time or the energy or the body to do yoga. It’s important to get the message out there that you don’t need to spend hours on the mat to reap the benefits. By starting small first with five-minute practices, you can build from there,” Hazel says.
According to James Clear, Author of Atomic Habits “All big things come from small beginnings. The seed of every habit is a single, tiny decision.”
In addition to yoga sessions that are tailored made for the individual (wellbeing and nutrition goals, experience, intensity of exercise you enjoy), The Yoga Tree App also offers meditations, delicious healthy recipes and nutrition. Your progress is even tracked so you can keep motivated and stick to your goals.
According to WHO (World Health Organisation) there has been a 25% increase in prevalence of anxiety and depression worldwide and sedentary lifestyles are linked to a significantly increased risk of colon and breast cancers. Hazel says that small changes can have big impacts. “Even five minutes of yoga and meditation a day has been proven to help reduce stress, anxiety, insomnia, headaches, back pain and high blood pressure. It can also help to improve mood, focus, circulation, and flexibility and at the same time will strengthen and tone the body.”
With over 400 yoga classes to choose from and varying themes and focus, from 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 60-minute classes, there’s something for all levels of experience in the new app, both live and on demand. Some classes are recorded on beautiful beaches in the South of Ireland. It also features over 60 meditations with different themes including ones to boost your energy, help your sleep and improve your work performance. There’s nutrition advice from expert nutritional therapists along with a large selection of healthy recipes to choose from and daily self-care tips to keep you inspired.
“Members will be inspired by different expert guests live on The Yoga Tree App every month to keep us motivated and to equip us with tools to feel our very best. Our next expert guest is a sleep therapist helping us to get a good night sleep,” said Hazel.
“With inflation, increases in energy prices and talk of recession, we need to prioritise our health and mental wellbeing now more than ever. My aim is to give people the tools so that can bring a sense of wellbeing into their everyday life.”
“We live in a hectic and busy world. The Yoga Tree’s ethos is that small changes create big results. We have a large library of 5/15/30 Minute Yoga Videos and short meditations that can fit into the busiest of lives.”
The Yoga Tree app has been a year and a half in the making to ensure the very best user experience. With a degree in Computer Science Hazel has been able to draw from her IT experience to work closely with The Yoga Tree’s app developers in building the most attractive and user-friendly app.
Hazel concluded by saying, “For years this has been my dream to create a platform for students to build their own bespoke wellness and to help to encourage people to practice at home. I see how good people feel when they practice yoga and wellness; it is my mission to spread the word!”
The Yoga Tree app costs €12.99 for a monthly subscription (less than 2 chai lattes a month!)
or €83.88 (€6.99 a month) annually. They also have a 7 day trial available. It is available on all smart devices on the Apple’s App Store and Google Playstore for both Apple (iOS) and Android.
