With just one week to go, Boots is reminding the public to get involved in this year’s Boots Night Walk in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. Join influencer and mum-of-three Rachel Gorry and the Dublin Gospel Choir to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society’s Night Nursing service which provides free end-of-life care at home for people living with cancer in Ireland.
Visit www.bootsnightwalk.com to sign up* for the 3.5km walk, taking place on Tuesday the 10th of September at Dublin’s Phoenix Park or at a location of your choosing.
You can also honour a loved one who has survived or passed away from cancer by purchasing an Honour Tag in any Boots store nationwide for €3. The front of the tag includes space to write the name of the individual being honoured, with all proceeds from the tags supporting the Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing service.
Ambassador Rachel Gorry will be participating in the walk this year in honour of her late partner Daniel, who passed away due to oesophageal cancer in 2021.
Rachel Gorry said: “With a week to go, I’m really looking forward to this year’s Night Walk. It promises to be a very special night; walking with friends and loved ones, hearing some beautiful music and most importantly raising money to support the incredible work of the Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses. If you haven’t yet, please sign up to walk alongside us next week or purchase an honour tag in your local Boots store.”
Managing Director at Boots Ireland, Stephen Watkins, said: “With just one week to go, we are calling on the public to help us once again support the Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing service, which provides crucial care to families during their most challenging times. Since 2012, our partnership with the Irish Cancer Society has raised over €3.3 million for this essential service, and we are deeply proud to continue supporting this important cause.”
Speaking on the support given to the Night Nursing Service by the Boots Night Walk campaign,
Irish Cancer Society CEO, Averil Power, said: “Every year we are amazed at the support we receive from the public at the Boots Night Walk. The Irish Cancer Society typically only receives 5% of its funding from Government, so public donations are essential for fuelling the delivery of our free services. That’s why initiatives like the Boots Night Walk are so vital for us. The funds raised go directly towards ensuring our Night Nurses can be there to provide care and comfort for cancer patients reaching the end of life. This offers support when families going through an unimaginably tough time need it the most. These services simply aren’t possible without your support.”
*Sign-up fee is €15 with participants receiving an accompanying t-shirt.
