TG4 in partnership with the Creative Ireland Programme of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, will celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg 2022 with creative series of 28 films with children and teenagers. A new series of Cruthaím showcasing the creativity of primary school-aged children between 4 and 12 years old, as well as four children from around the world in a series of films which will be available on Cúla4’s youtube channel and on TG4.
Four secondary schools had the chance to work on full production and learn about all the various roles and skills in film production in a series of films that will be aired on TG4’s Youtube Channel. The schools involved in Comórtas Físeáin le Fíbín had the opportunity to use the equipment and learn from experts in all aspects of a production camera, sound, lighting, acting, props, makeup, directors and producers. At the end of their week, they spent a day producing their film which was developed by the class itself.
This year, Creative Ireland has asked six wonderful young people to represent Cruinniú na nOg 2022 to inspire others with their creative energy and skills. Faith Leigh Bomah from Letterkenny is this year’s Ambassadóir na Gaeilge and she boasts creativity by the bucket-load! This talented ten-year-old is never happier than when she’s immersed in two of her favourite creative hobbies: fashion design and upcycling.
Siobhán Ní Bhrádaigh Commissioning Editor for Young People’s says, “TG4 are excited about ‘Cruinniú na nÓg’ 2022. This year features a new series showcasing what creativity means for young people across Ireland and abroad in 24 short films ‘Cruthaím’. Secondary school students had hands-on experience in how to develop, produce and direct their short films in Comóratas Físeáin le Fíbín. This platform for their work will give them opportunities to explore creative careers and the enjoyment that can be gotten from creativity.”
